Airmont Pauses Enforcement of New Zoning Codes as Federal Discrimination Case Continues

Airmont’s updated zoning codes have been put on hold while a discrimination lawsuit makes its way through the federal courts. The Journal News says the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan and Airmont attorneys agreed to pause the updated 2018 codes while the court case is fought over. The feds filed the suit against the village in December, claiming the laws discriminate against Orthodox and Hasidic Jews. Airmont has denied the discrimination claims.
