More Vaccination Sites Open in New York, But Still Not in Rockland

Still no COVID vaccination site for Rockland. New York’s governor announced yesterday the opening of several new state-run vaccination sites at SUNY Stony Brook, Aqueduct Racetrack, SUNY Potsdam and Plattsburgh International Airport, but not one yet here in the county. They join the sites already opened at the Javits Center, Westchester Convention Center, the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, Jones Beach, and at SUNY Albany. The governor again blamed vaccine shortages on the feds, and urged New Yorkers to remain patient, as appointments, if you’re lucky enough to get one, are being scheduled 14 weeks out or even longer. COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we have no new COVID deaths to report, the total stands at 806. We’ve got 99 hospitalized confirmed with coronavirus, and 2,811 active cases. Our total case count is 31,668, that’s 607 more than Monday.
