NY Governor Slams Washington for Failure to Provide Financial Relief to States; Rockland Loses Two More to COVID

COVID has taken a financial toll on many across the county and the country. While it looks like Americans will be getting stimulus checks from the latest $900 billion COVID-19 relief deal, there may not be as much relief for states as had been hoped. Negotiations are continuing, but so far a $160 billion aid package for state and local governments has been dropped. New York governor Andrew Cuomo said in a press conference yesterday that partisan bickering and doing nothing in Washington for states that are struggling isn’t helping the economy…

ABC News reported the relief package would deliver additional help to businesses, $300 per week in unemployment checks, and $600 stimulus payments to most Americans. Cuomo said the state will advance $1.5 billion to organizations that need cash flow between now and next February and March.

COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we lost two more to coronavirus, bringing the total to 735. We’ve got one in the hospital being examined, another 80 have been confirmed with coronavirus, and a total of 2,157 active cases. The state says since the crisis began, we’ve had a total of 24,555 reported cases, 221 more than Wednesday.
