Lawmakers Urge MTA not to Eliminate West-of-Hudson Train Service

A bipartisan group of lawmakers and lawmakers-to-be is urging the Board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority not to eliminate the West-of-Hudson rail service as has been suggested in recent weeks. The group includes elected officials at the state level from Rockland and Orange counties in both the Assembly and Senate, newly elected state reps, and both county executives. In an interview last month, Rockland County Executive Ed Day said if funding for the Pascack Valley and Port Jervis train lines is drastically cut, the county will have to look for alternative commuter rail service solutions …

The MTA board is scheduled to meet this week and set their 2021 budget.
