Voting Lines Persist, but No Extended Hours for Rockland

The weather hasn’t been a deterrent to early voters here in the county. People have been continuing to line up all week to get their votes in early, ahead of Tuesday’s election. But it hasn’t been without its challenges, on top of the long lines, there have also been a few electioneering issues. Stony Pointers have had to vote in other towns, as their town hall was the only one in Rockland not equipped to accept early voting. Supervisor Jim Monaghan says an additional polling location in North Rockland might have helped…

Despite attempts by Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski and several Rockland County Legislators to extend early voting hours here, the schedule for the last three days of early voting at town halls in Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Orangetown and Ramapo hasn’t been changed. You can vote today [from 9] until 5, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 until 2PM. There’s no early voting Monday, and Election Day is next Tuesday. And you don’t have to be a resident of a particular town to vote early at any town hall.
