County’s Fire and Emergency Services Agency Helps Members Get Through Grief After Colleagues’ Fatal Accident on Thruway

The county’s Fire and Emergency Services agency is working to help EMS and others who are grieving the loss of two volunteers last month in a car accident on the New York State Thruway. Desiree Leone is the assistant Rockland County EMS coordinator, and on Friday’s “Who Wants to be a Volunteer” heard here on WRCR, said it’s important for those who are having a hard time coping with the loss to reach out…

Director of Fire and Emergency Services Chris Kear says they stress that every day to all first responders…

Kear says any first responder who needs help should reach out for professional help or speak with their chief or agency leader who would then bring in the county’s critical incident stress debriefing team. EMS volunteers 27 year-old Moshe Herzog and 26 year-old David Schneebalg were killed last week in an accident on the New York State Thruway. Both were volunteers with the Faist Volunteer Ambulance Corps in Chestnut Ridge and the Haverstraw Ambulance Corps.
