Rockland Marks 19th Anniversary of 9/11 Terror Attacks

Today is the 19th anniversary of the terror attacks on New York City and Washington DC. The county is hosting its commemoration in Haverstraw Bay County Park this morning at 8:30. Family members will read the names of the Rockland County victims. Because of COVID restrictions, it’s open only to family, survivors, first responders and friends. It’ll be streamed live on the county’s Facebook page and will be posted there later today. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says a candlelight service will be held at town hall tonight at 7pm…

In Orangetown, supervisor Teresa Kenny will be presiding over her first 9-11 event at town hall at 6pm…

Elsewhere in the county, the Village of West Haverstraw is holding a candlelight ceremony tonight at Pecks Pond, behind the baseball field by the pavilion at 7:15. The village of Suffern’s ceremony is at Suffern Village Hall tonight at 7 pm. The village of Sloatsburg will hold its annual remembrance service at 11 this morning at the Sloatsburg Municipal Building.
