Habitat For Humanity of Rockland Buys Property to Renovate in Hillburn

“Habitat For Humanity of Rockland” has bought a foreclosed property on Second Street in Hillburn owned by the county. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says the organization has now purchased four homes in Hillburn and their tenth in the County thus far, for families that find themselves struggling…

Families don’t just get a free house. Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Rockland, Keith Albert, says they buy it for no more than 30% of their income with a low interest rate mortgage…

The house has three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a basement, and it’s been sitting empty for years. The plan is to gut the inside and upgrade just about everything so it’ll meet the Department of Energy’s “Zero Energy Ready Homes” standard.
