Man Convicted of Killing a Pearl River Teen Released from Jail, Banned from Entering Rockland County

One of the men convicted of killing a Pearl River teen has been released from behind bars, but he’s been banned from entering Rockland County without written permission. 67 year-old Richard LaBarbera had been released from his 25-years-to-life sentence last year then was sent behind bars again for getting drunk and violating his probation. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says he’s glad the New York State Board of Parole listened to the many Rocklanders who requested he be kept away from Pearl River, where Paula Bohovesky’s mom still lives…

LaBarbera is reportedly required to stay within the five boroughs. LaBarbera spent about 40 years in prison after he was convicted in the 1980 killing of 16-year-old Paula Bohovesky as she walked home from the Pearl River library.
