Suffern Catholic School to Close

A Catholic school in Ramapo is among twenty in the region that are closing down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Archdiocese of New York announced yesterday that Sacred Heart School in Suffern is among those. In a press release, the Archdiocese cited mass unemployment, continuing health concerns, families unable to pay tuition, and a low rate of re-registration for the fall. Months of cancelled public masses and fundraising efforts also contributed to the schools’ financial predicament. The changes will affect 2,500 students and 350 staff.
