Fireworks, Legal and Illegal, Gain Steam as COVID Restrictions are Lifted; Area Officials Warn of Safety Issues

Both Kear and Sheriff Falco stress, fireworks are best left to the pros. Despite their relatively benign appearance, sparklers can be extremely dangerous. The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York says sparklers, which are now legal in New York, burn at nearly 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, about as hot as a blow torch, and can be extremely dangerous.
