Malls Still Left out of Current Re-opening Plans

It seems like lots of retailers and restaurants are getting a chance to at least embrace the public again, but what about the malls? Right now, stores in malls in the Mid-Hudson region are only permitted to allow customers in if they have their own entrance. If they don’t, they can only do curbside pickup. Mall restaurants and bars can only do outdoor dining and curbside pickup, as well. Rockland Business Association CEO Al Samuels says the companies inside the malls, though, are hurting…

It’s not clear yet when malls will be able to open as the state is concerned large groups can congregate in smaller, enclosed areas. Proponents of opening the malls cite the jobs and economic benefits and have argued malls have enough space to enforce social distancing.
