Rockland Towns Grapple with Decisions on Camps and Pools for Summer of COVID-19

If pools and camps are going to open for the summer in Rockland’s five towns, the decisions will be made at the last-minute. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says they are waiting for guidance from the governor on when the state’s COVID restrictions might be lifted before they make any final decision…

Monaghan’s pools and camps usually open at the beginning of July. Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips says they’ve been doing maintenance on the Olympic-sized pool and kiddie pool, just in case…

Orangetown supervisor Teresa Kenny says the town’s parks director thinks it’ll be challenging to have camps open by the end of June…

Day Camp, Teen Camp and Junior Counselor registration in Orangetown has been postponed, for now, until May 18th. For the town of Clarkstown, supervisor George Hoehmann says his town is in the same boat as everyone else…

And it’s no different in Ramapo, where not only are camps and pools delayed for now, but the baseball season in Pomona as well…

In Ramapo, 2020 summer camp registrations are now being accepted, but they do not anticipate camps opening before July 6th.
