New York to Get Billions Under HEROES Act, if it Passes

67 billion dollars in relief funds could be coming to New York, with $112 million of that coming to Rockland County, if Congress passes and the president signs the Helping Emergency Responders Overcome Emergency Situations Act of 2020. Also known as the HEROES act, the $3 trillion coronavirus relief bill would provide support for the continued COVID-19 response and recovery, including keeping essential workers on the job and services in place for residents. Rockland and Westchester congresswoman Nita Lowey says the bill would also extend the $600 weekly federal unemployment payments through the end of January 31st next year and provide $100 billion in additional rental assistance…

The bill would also give individuals another $1,200 and increase the maximum for households with children to $6,000, and let non-profit organizations participate in the Paycheck Protection Program. The bill could come to a vote on Friday.
