Rockland Coronavirus Cases Jump to 623, with 5 Deaths

FEMA has started to build a 1,000-bed temporary hospital at the Javits Center in the city that will open next week and help increase New York’s capacity to combat coronavirus. That’s on top of the four sites the Army Corps of Engineers is creating, including at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, for temporary hospitals with a total capacity up to 4,000. With a new reality of life setting in, New York’s governor said he wants to be “socially distanced but spiritually connected.” Governor Andrew Cuomo said the lifestyle changes we’re making now do come with a bit of a silver lining…

There are now 623 confirmed cases in the county as of yesterday afternoon and five deaths, the latest two victims were 79 and 66 years old and both had other significant health problems. As such, Rockland’s County Executive Ed Day is urging residents to stay home…

And while some are concerned people are hoarding all the toilet paper and sanitizer they can get their hands on, a caller to “The Morning Show” yesterday said she was touched by a simple random act of kindness…

And this reminder from the County Executive, as of Sunday, March 22nd, all non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason, must be cancelled or postponed. Additionally, all nonessential businesses must have 100% of their workforce stay home. Essential businesses are described here.
