Coronavirus Closings & Cancellations

Update 6:16am 3/16/20:

School Closings
· Clarkstown: “We ask parents and students not to come to the buildings Monday. They will arrange a time for you to have access to pick up supplies and athletic equipment at a later date this week.
· East Ramapo: “All schools and the Administration Building will continue to be closed today. Schools will be closed for students on Tuesday. For staff, there will be an online home-learning virtual professional development session, on Tuesday.”
· Nanuet: “Closed to students and staff through Wednesday. During this time, at home learning for students will begin.”
· Nyack: “Closed today through Wednesday. Today students can log-in to their Class Pages at www.nyackschools.org between the hours of 9am-11am.
· Pearl River: “Closed through Wednesday”
· South Orangetown: “Closed through Wednesday. There will be no sports or student activities during this period. All previously-scheduled parent meetings are postponed.”
· Suffern Central: “Closed through Wednesday”
· BOCES: “ALL programs and buildings are closed through Wednesday. Rockland BOCES Adult Education morning and evening classes in Nyack, West Nyack, the Nazarene Church at Spring Valley, Spring Valley High School and Haverstraw Elementary School are cancelled for today.
· Dominican College: online undergraduate and graduate courses begin today. Regular in-person classes are expected to resume on Monday, March 23.
· Nyack College: all undergraduate and graduate courses will be online through March 29th
· RCC: All classes are cancelled. Spring Break will extend from March 16 – March 29.
· STAC: online classes start today, instruction will resume on campus on Monday, March 23rd.
· Albertus Magnus: school is closed this week, athletic practices and extracurricular activities are cancelled, and social events and meetings are postponed

Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann announced that effective Monday, March 16, 2020 all Clarkstown Community Centers are closed to the public through April 13, 2020. Due to closures, Town Staff plan to implement a wide array of online activities for residents. The activities are to be broadcast on Facebook Live (https://www.facebook.com/TownOfClarkstown/) and the Town’s two public access channels as more individuals and families will be isolated at home with schools closed. 

Tappan Library is closed indefinitely.

Hillcrest CUPON meeting scheduled for March 18 is being cancelled until further notice.

Ramapo facilities, including the Senior Center, the Challenger Center, and the Cultural Arts Center have been temporarily closed as a precaution to allow for a thorough cleaning. Senior bus trips and open events at the Joseph T. St. Lawrence Center have been suspended until further notice. Updated information on closures is available at www.ramapo.org

Update 6:04am 3/13/20:

Clarkstown Central Schools are closed Friday. A family member of a student tested positive for coronavirus.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York will close all Catholic elementary schools in its system from Monday, March 16 until Friday, March 20.

The Rockland Symphony Orchestra’s winter concert at Green Meadow Waldorf School in Chestnut Ridge set for Sunday, March 15 has been cancelled.  

All Finkelstein Memorial Library children and teen programs have been canceled through March. 

The Nanuet Student Art Exhibit and Art Show scheduled for March 14-15 and its art exhibit and awards ceremony scheduled for March 27 have been postponed. 

All Special Olympics activities have been suspended until March 31, including basketball games at the West Haverstraw Community Center that were scheduled to be played Wednesday. 

Update 10:17pm 3/12/20:

South Nyack-Grand View 3/16 4pm Court is cancelled.

The Historical Society of Rockland County has postponed the 2020 Annual Dinner honoring Marjorie Johnson, Hon. Victor J. Alfieiri, and Dr. Arlene Clinkscale, which was scheduled for Sunday, March 29.

104th Annual New York State Archaeological Association Conference, scheduled for April 24-26, 2020 at the Crowne Plaza Suffern-Mahwah and Hosted by Orange County Archaeological Chapter, has been cancelled.

The NY Boulders have postponed their National Anthem auditions, originally scheduled for 3/25 and 4/1. New dates will be announced in the coming weeks. 

Update 10:25am 3/12/20: Rockland County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee Announces 3/22/20 Parade has been cancelled. At this time there is no reschedule date. “This has not been an easy decision, but the health and safety of the community must always be the overriding priority.  However, the impact of canceling the parade should not be trivialized.  Our first thoughts are to our well-deserving honorees who, after years of quiet service were getting the public recognition they so justly deserved.” 

Village of South Nyack — Mayor’s Update — The Community Meeting scheduled for tonight, March 12th, is cancelled. A new meeting date is TBD.

· Office of Fire & Emergency Services – ALL tours of the Fire Museum.
· Division of Environmental Resources, Rockland County Water Quality Coordinating Committee Meeting, March 17.
· Human Rights Commission, Human Rights Symposium, March 25.
· Office for the Aging, Senior Emergency Preparedness, April 7.
· Office for the Aging, Elder Abuse Forum, April 14.
· The Legislature’s March 18th Women’s History & Irish-American Heritage Month Celebrations Cancelled, they will be rescheduled.
Committee meetings scheduled for March 31, are cancelled

· Town of Ramapo has cancelled criminal court March 12th and March 17th, traffic court March 12th, March 16th and March 18th, and civil court on March 18th. Notifications of new court dates have been sent out. Call the court if you have any questions. All other Ramapo court calendars, including the civil calendar on March 16th, will take place as scheduled.
· Rockland Pride Center in Nyack has suspended all support groups, events, and drop-in hours. You can still call or email them if you need anything.

Schools:
· East Ramapo: All schools and admin building closed through Friday
· North Rockland: closed Friday for students; it’s a superintendent’s conference day for staff
· South Orangetown, no class cancellations, but a number of trips and events have been cancelled or postponed, including (check their website for complete list):

· Suffern Central: half day Friday
· Dominican College: undergrad and graduate courses will be online starting Monday. Students and faculty should not return to campus after Spring Break.
· Nyack College: beginning Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 29, all undergraduate and graduate courses will be online. Students don’t have to to return to campus and should stay home after Spring Break ends this week. They will resume regular classes on Monday, March 30th.
· RCC sites are open and fully operational.
· STAC: online instruction Monday to Friday, March 20. No in-person class meetings. All residence life complexes are open and students can move back as scheduled 12 noon Sunday, March 15; campus will be open; is work as usual for administration and staff.

Other:
· The Tappan Library has suspended all programs today through at least Monday, April 6th. The library will continue to operate normal business hours. They are also waiving all material fines through April 6th.
· The Lafayette Theater is limiting the number of tickets available for each public showing to 100 attendees. They also ask you to use credit cards for purchasing concessions and avoid using cash.
· RCC Senior Club meeting tomorrow at noon has been cancelled
