Rockland Gets First Two Coronavirus Cases; YouthFest at RCC Cancelled; TZHS Staffer with Connections to Closed Westchester School Self-Quarantines

UPDATE 1:45pm: The Governor has announced the number of cases in the state is up to 33, and Rockland County has seen its first two cases. A staffer at Tappan Zee High School, whose kids attend a school in Westchester that was closed, has self-quarantined. Neither the staff member nor the staff member’s children are experiencing symptoms.

Earlier: Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Commissioner of Health Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert have announced that the 22nd annual YouthFest, scheduled for Sunday at RCC, has been canceled due to concerns over coronavirus. “With great regret we have decided to cancel this year’s YouthFest and Rockland County Government Day,” said County Executive Day. “Out of an abundance of caution, we have made this decision based upon guidance provided by Commissioner of Health Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert and the Rockland County Department of Health (RCDOH).”
