Legislator Disappointed Override Vote of “Rockland Future Summit” Veto Fails

The “Rockland Future Summit” – it’s been a divisive idea in which both sides say they want to get Rocklanders together and solve the problems that divide us, but the two sides can’t even seem to agree on how to come together. On one side there’s county executive Ed Day, who has backed his Human Rights Commission and the meetings they periodically hold, including a fair housing forum last week at RCC…

And there’s Legislator Nancy Low-Hogan, sponsor of the summit bill that was vetoed by the county executive. Low-Hogan says she was disappointed the vote to override the county executive’s veto of the proposed “Rockland Future Summit” came up short last week. She says the summit was going to be run differently than the meetings and workshops the Human Rights Commission already holds, and would have focused on other topics…

Low-Hogan says the summit could succeed, but the county executive and the Town of Ramapo would have to be participants.
