LiveOnNY is a nonprofit that serves as the federally-designated organ procurement organization for the region. Every 18 hours a New Yorker dies waiting for an organ transplant. That’s partially because there aren’t enough New Yorkers registered as organ donors…only 35% are. While a recent study showed that 92% of New Yorkers support organ and tissue donation, not enough have registered. To learn more, visit EnrollmentDay.org or LiveOnNY.org. You can hear Roxanne’s show every Wednesday morning following the 9 o’clock news, and ask her how to become an organ donor.
