MTA, Thruway, Smacked by Local Officials for Ignoring Rockland

An area assemblyman is demanding funding equity for Hudson Valley commuters. Stony Point assemblyman Colin Schmitt of the 99th District says the 2020-2024 MTA Capital Plan is set to be introduced this fall, and too frequently, the needs of west-of-Hudson commuters who use Metro-North get ignored…

Schmitt wants to be sure the legislature has enough time to hold hearings and make adjustments in the budget, if necessary. Meanwhile, a meeting by the new Thruway Toll Advisory Panel will be held this week in Rockland to hear from commuters who have concerns about plans for future tolls on the new Tappan Zee Bridge. Al Samuels is the head of the Rockland Business Association, and says he’s concerned Rockland’s issues could get overlooked…

There are two listening sessions for the toll panel, one in Tarrytown and one in Nyack. The Tarrytown meeting is being held Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 to 7:30 at the Westchester Marriott. The Nyack meeting is being held Thursday afternoon from 4:30 to 7:30 at the Time Nyack Hotel. If you want your chance to speak for two minutes you need to sign up. Written comments can be submitted to TollAdvisoryPanel@thruway.ny.gov.
