NY’s U.S. Senator Calls for Equal Pay for Women; World Cup Champs Parade in NYC

After a parade through the Canyon of Heroes in Manhattan later this morning and then a visit to the Senate in Washington, the World Cup Champion U.S. Women’s soccer team is looking to advance in yet another way – in equal pay to their male counterparts. U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer says they work just as hard to prepare in their sport as the men do, and they’ve won back-to-back championships, so they deserve to be on equal footing financially as well…

A Virginia senator yesterday introduced a bill that would prevent the federal government from funding the 2026 FIFA World Cup until the U-S Soccer Federation agrees to equal pay for its men’s and women’s national teams. Today’s parade starts at 9:30 and works its way north from Battery Park along Broadway to City Hall.
