Report: Clarkstown Highway Superintendent Defends Son’s Hiring

Clarkstown’s highway superintendent is defending his son’s hiring by the department. The Journal News reports Frank DiZenzo ‘s son, Frank DiZenzo Jr., was hired full-time last month as a motor equipment operator. DiZenzo has been with the department for 36 years and can hire employees without consulting the Town Board, though the town’s ethics code prevents municipal officers from participating in any decision to appoint, hire, promote or supervise a relative. The superintendent said he didn’t participate in his son’s interview process and doesn’t directly supervise him. DiZenzo is retiring when his current term ends in January.
