South Nyack to Host Musical Tribute to Pete Seeger Sunday

Today is the 100th birthday of Pete Seeger, the legendary musician and environmental activist from South Nyack. He lived most of his life in the Hudson Valley and became committed to protecting the Hudson River. He is best remembered for his songs “If I had a Hammer,” “Where Have All the Flowers Gone,” and his version of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land.” He died in 2014 but he’ll be honored with a musical tribute Sunday night at the South Nyack Franklin Street Park from 6-8. Performers include Leo Vera, Pat Keating, the Compton Maddux Band, and Cool Mess featuring Pam Hudson and Michelle Solomon.
