Measles Cases up to 95 in Rockland; Schools Face Fines

There are now 95 confirmed cases of measles in Rockland County and two additional suspected cases. Nine private schools in New Square, Spring Valley and Monsey face a month’s worth of fines, up to $2,000 a day, for not providing health officials with their students’ vaccination records. Hearings on the issue are being held this week. County Executive Ed Day told “The Morning Show” Friday if the schools need to be shut down due to the outbreak, they will be…

Day said one of the schools was not a religious school but he did not identify what school that is. One of those schools was also the subject of a separate legal action in the town of Ramapo. Though the school at 261 Route 306, a collection of ten trailers, was ordered shut by a judge the town of Ramapo is reportedly giving them the chance to get its certificate of occupancy. If you need the measles vaccine, contact your healthcare provider.
