Rockland Legislator: Overturning County Executive’s Vetoes Won’t be Easy

Rockland’s Legislature may not have the votes to overturn the county executive’s line-item budget vetoes from earlier this week, but one Democrat is holding out for the slim possibility that it can happen. Clarkstown legislator Harriet Cornell told “The Morning Show” yesterday it won’t be easy…

Rockland County Executive Ed Day vetoed 95 of the legislature’s amendments to the proposed 2019 county budget. The Legislature has until December 20th to override Day’s vetoes or else the amended version with his vetoes becomes the budget. As proposed, the $709 million spending plan includes a 2.9 percent property tax increase, which, for the average Rockland homeowner, comes to about $37 a year.
