MTA to Host “Proposed Fare and Toll Change” Public Hearing at Palisades Center Tonight

The MTA is holding a “Proposed Fare and Toll Change” public hearing tonight at Palisades Center that anyone who commutes by train into the city will want to attend. The meeting comes amid word that the positive train control installation, which has been blamed for excessive delays and cancellations for the last six months, has gotten a two-year deadline extension by the Federal Railroad Administration. Orangetown Supervisor Chris Day, who is trying to build a stronger downtown Pearl River around the train station, says officials who think Rockland ridership is low — so therefore no improvements need to be made — are looking at it all wrong…

Brian Campbell is the head of the Pearl River Chamber of Commerce, and he says reliable rail service in the hamlet is critical for downtown revitalization…

Tonight’s public hearing is being held in the Adler Community Room on the 4th floor of Palisades Center near the ice rink. Registration starts at 4:30, the hearing begins at 5:30 and will run until about 8:30.
