Former Rockland Bus Exec Sentenced in Federal Court

Former Rockland school bus executive Richard Brega was sentenced to four years and two months in prison this afternoon by a federal judge in White Plains. According to LoHud.com, the 50 year-old Stony Point resident also must pay $206,515 in restitution and owes $80,229 in forfeiture. The Nyack High School graduate was arrested in July last year and convicted of bribery and fraud in May for knowingly allowing school children to ride in buses that were unsafe. Today, Brega is scheduled to appear in Rockland County Court for a separate sentencing. The Journal News says Brega pleaded guilty in May to falsifying business records to donate to political campaigns under other people’s names.
