Rockland Legislature and County Executive Tussle Over Budget Plan

The Legislature was hoping for smooth sailing through the budget season as it was last year, but that didn’t happen. Rockland County Executive Ed Day slammed legislators for adding spending into the plan that he said just isn’t there. Haverstraw legislator Jay Hood punched back, and told “The Morning Show” yesterday he was disappointed with the negotiation process and he thought Day didn’t need to take to Facebook and the media to slam the Legislature’s amended 2019 budget…

Buckle up, because now the budget goes back to the County Executive, who has line-item veto power. The Legislature would then have until December 20th to override any vetoes with a two-thirds vote or else the amended version with the County Executive’s vetoes becomes the budget.
