Annual Chanukah Car Parade and Grand Menorah Lighting Comes through Rockland Sunday

The annual Chanukah Car Parade and Grand Menorah Lighting is being held this Sunday, as the Festival of Lights kicks off its eight days of celebration that evening. Seventy-five “menorah-mobiles,” will parade through much of Rockland County beginning on Route 306 in Monsey and ending at Palisades Center Mall. Rabbi Menachem Sufrin organized the project, and says the parade marks the Maccabees’ war more than 2,000 years ago against the Greeks, and the rededication of the temple that was destroyed. Rabbi Sufrin says Chanukah celebrates the small amount of oil that miraculously lasted for eight days…

The parade starts at 6:15 on Sunday night, with a celebration being held at Palisades Center near the Cheesecake Factory from 7 til 8pm. There’ll be a public menorah lighting, dancing, donuts and entertainment for the kids.
