Elephant Escapes; Police Politely Place in Pachyderm’s Pad

Apparently looking for a Veterans Day parade to join, a 44 year-old elephant, burned by Napalm as a baby in 1974 in Vietnam, decided to leave her Orange County animal sanctuary on Sunday. DailyVoice.com reported the elephant was walking along a local road near the Sanctuary for Animals in Westtown before New York State Police found her and helped bring her back home. Westtown is about 13 miles east of Port Jervis.
