Town Supervisors Demand Rocklanders Get Discounts for MTA Service, Same as NJ Riders

Two area supervisors are threatening to drop out of the MTA if they aren’t given better treatment by the transportation authority. The supervisors from Clarkstown and Orangetown held a press conference yesterday at the Nanuet Train station to decry preferred treatment that New Jersey riders get over Rockland riders, including a ten percent discount as riders suffer through decreased service as safety improvements are being made. Positive Train Control is designed to automatically stop a train before accidents occur. The eliminated express lines servicing Rockland could be restored in early 2019.
