Former Rockland Homeless Shelter Director Gets a Year in Jail for Using Counterfeit Cash

The former director of a Rockland homeless non-profit was sentenced to a year in jail last week for using counterfeit cash to buy money cards at a Spring Valley pharmacy. 55 year-old Ya’el Williams of Thiells pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a forged instrument. Rockland’s D-A says Williams used $480 in fake cash to buy the cards. Williams had been with Helping Hands for the Homeless of Rockland, which operates a homeless shelter at the Pomona Health Complex.
