Speeding Crackdown to Come Next Month on NYS Thruway

New York State Police will be cracking down next month on speeding and aggressive drivers on the Thruway. The Speed Week campaign runs from September 9-15. Speed is a major factor in highway-related deaths in New York. In 2013, 352 people were killed and nearly 19,000 injured in speed related crashes statewide. State Troopers will also be monitoring other traffic violations, including distracted or impaired drivers, drivers and passengers not wearing seat belts, and drivers that violate the “Move Over” law.
