Judge Declines to Shut Down Girls School in Ramapo; Still no Settlement in Dirt Pile Case with Sewer District

A judge reportedly declined Friday to temporarily shut down a private school in Ramapo that the town claimed violated safety regulations. The summer camp there reportedly had its last day on Friday, but the girls’ school on Route 306 is slated to start up again in September. The Journal News reported the judge is still waiting for the school’s response over the next few weeks on Ramapo’s request to shut it down until the owner gets site plan approval and a certificate of occupancy. The school’s been described as a single structure made up of 10 modular trailers attached together.

In other Ramapo news, the town has still not yet settled another legal issue, this one with the County Sewer District. Town spokesman Phil Tisi says the dirt piles situation in western Ramapo is still being hashed out…

Ramapo’s supervisor had said they were close to settling the case in June.
