Piermont Village Board Passes “No Knock” Law

The Piermont Village Board has passed a “No Knock” law that creates a registry of homes that do not want to be bothered by commercial door-to-door solicitors. Violations aren’t cheap: up to $1,500 for a first offense, up to $3,500 for a second offense within 24 months, and up to a $10,000 fine or 30 days in jail for a third offense within the same time period. To sign up for the voluntary “Do Not Knock Registry” just submit your Name and Address at the Village Clerk’s office or fill out the form on the village’s website.
