Ramapo Considers Plan to Offer First-time Home Buyers Tax Exemption

A petition has been circulating around Ramapo regarding a potential new local law that is set for a public hearing later this month. The law would give a limited tax exemption for first-time home buyers. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht is aware of the petition, and says the town’s assessor is looking at other municipalities in the state that have done this, and they’d like to see what pros or cons they’ve experienced as a result of the law’s implementation…

The petition is posted on ipetitions.com. It says there’s plenty of new buyer interest in Ramapo and therefore no justification for the law, calling it a gift to new home developers and their buyers. The public hearing is scheduled for August 27th.
