Sloatsburg Mayor Slams Suez for Delayed Response to Water Main Break

The southbound lanes on Route 17 in Sloatsburg near Municipal Plaza have been re-opened following a water main break around 2 o-clock on Sunday afternoon. In a Facebook post yesterday, Sloatsburg Mayor Carl Wright blasted Suez Water for what he called their “unacceptable” response to the situation. He said repairs didn’t begin for about 6 hours after the break occurred, creating major traffic headaches, and certified personnel reportedly had to be brought up from Red Bank, New Jersey, as none was in the more immediate area. The Rockland County Health Department issued a boil water order for 75 and 85 Orange Turnpike. There was no village-wide boil water alert. Mayor Wright is calling for an investigation into the holdup by Suez. A spokesperson for Suez could not be reached for comment.
