The Journal News reports many Chestnut Ridge residents like the current village code, which requires 5 acres for a synagogue, and houses of worship are not permitted in single-family homes on properties less than 5 acres without a variance. The public hearing starts tonight at 7:30 at Spring Valley High School. A third hearing is targeted for September.
