Rockland County Executive Meets with NJT and Metro North Officials to Discuss Cancelled Express Trains

Rockland’s County Executive last week met with executives from Metro-North Railroad and New Jersey Transit regarding the suspension of service on the Pascack Valley line. That was done so Positive Train Control safety measures could be added to the tracks. While the suspended express trains in and out of the city aren’t going to be added back, the county executive said in a press release that Metro-North agreed to reinvest their cost savings from the cancelled Pascack Valley line trains into functional and cosmetic improvements at the Nanuet Station. The county also requested a three-year fare freeze, but service additions will have to wait until PTC is installed.
