NJ Man Dies After Fight Last Week in Pearl River

A fight in Pearl River last month that was originally booked as an assault case may be upgraded after the victim died of his injuries over the weekend. In the early morning hours of June 23rd, Orangetown Police responded to a report of an unconscious man on West Central Avenue. 21 year-old Douglas Guido of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, reportedly punched the man in the head and was charged with second-degree assault. 21 year-old Richard Hess, reportedly a friend of Guido’s, died of his injuries at Westchester Medical Center on Friday. The case is being reviewed by the Orangetown Police, Rockland D-A and Westchester Medical Examiner’s office.
