NYS Legislature Names Barbara Underwood as Interim Attorney General

The New York State legislature has named Barbara Underwood as interim Attorney General. She has become the first woman to hold the post. Two local candidates reportedly had sought the position, including Thomas Humbach of the Rockland County Attorney’s office and Michael Diederich, a Rockland County lawyer in private practice. Others have expressed an interest in running for Attorney General in November as Schneiderman’s term was set to expire this year.
