Rockland Lawmakers Come out Against Parole Hearings for 1981 Brinks Heist Participants

Rockland lawmakers are coming out against parole hearings for participants in the 1981 Nanuet Mall Brinks heist. Mutulu Shakur was slated to be before the parole board earlier this month, but there’s been no decision announced yet in that case. Last week the legislature voted 16-0 opposing his parole. County Executive Ed Day, a former police officer, also denounced last week’s release of Herman Bell, who served 45 years of a 25 years-to-life sentence in the killing of two officers he lured to a Harlem housing development with a phony 911 call…

A state judge has ordered a new parole hearing for Judith Clark, the getaway driver in the Brinks case. Clark could get a new parole hearing by the end of June. Day says she should spend the rest of her life in prison.
