New Square Ranked Poorest Community in State; Pearl River HS Cracks Top 100 Best List

USA Today has a ranking of the poorest communities in each state, and New York’s representative comes from our area. With an average median income of about 21-thousand dollars, nearly 40 grand below the state average, the village of New Square is listed as “by far” the poorest community in New York. New Square also reportedly has the highest poverty and SNAP recipient rates in the country. In another ranking, there’s one Rockland County high school that made the U.S. News & World Report annual top 100 list. Pearl River High School ranked highest among Rockland schools at 68th in New York State.
