Rockland Swimming Legend Skip Storch Pleads Guilty to Sex Charge; Faces 7 Years in Prison

Famed Rockland distance swimmer and environmental advocate David “Skip” Storch has pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving a child and faces seven years in prison when he is sentenced on June 5th. The D.A. says Storch pleaded guilty to first degree “Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child.” He was first charged in September and pleaded guilty in February. Storch became famous for his long-distance swims that he used to call attention to environmental issues. Cuban President Fidel Castro wished him luck in 1993 when he tried to swim 177 miles from Cuba to Florida.
