Settlement Nears in Ramapo-Hillburn Dirt Pile Mess

The case of the piles of contaminated soil that were placed at Sloatsburg’s Community Field nearly a decade ago and then possibly removed under questionable circumstances could be settled. George Hoehmann, who heads up the Sewer District that is part of the case, says he and Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht met last week and had some discussions about putting the case behind them…

Fresh off the Samuel Road settlement last month, Supervisor Specht is optimistic another settlement can happen here as well…

The case centers on the question of whether the soil was ever removed and how much was paid for that service. Hoehmann says he expects to meet to discuss the matter again with Specht in a few weeks.
