Governor Proposes Plastic Bag Ban in NY

A Rockland state lawmaker says the governor’s proposed ban on single-use, plastic carryout bags at any point-of-sale in New York State is a good idea, though he needs to hear more on the plan. Governor Andrew Cuomo introduced a program bill, noting the bags cause extensive damage to water and natural resources. Ten cities, towns and villages in New York State have already enacted their own plastic bag bans. If approved, the bill would go into effect on January 1st, 2019.
