County Takes Step Towards New Highway Department to be Located in Chestnut Ridge

The county executive signed a bond resolution for $29.5 million that’ll be used to build a new Highway Department facility in Chestnut Ridge. The facility will be built on a piece of property that was purchased from the state for $1. The new facility will include an office building, a large vehicle storage building, a repair shop, a salt shed and a fuel station. Three other bond resolutions were signed…one for a document management software system, another for a playground for court-ordered visitation at the Pomona complex, and another for the continued enhancements for the Pomona complex. All four bonds together should reportedly save taxpayers about $3 million dollars.
