Weekend Fundraiser Aims to Keep Kids Safe

A fundraiser is being held this weekend to help create awareness programs regarding furniture safety in the home. The group “HarperSmiles” is named for Harper Fried, who was killed in November 2016 when she was just three years old, after a dresser toppled onto her while she played in her room. Her father, Aaron Fried of Harriman, a dispatcher with the Ramapo Police Department, says this Sunday’s “Family Fun Night” will feature lots of music, games, and raffle prizes…

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says there’s an average of 33,000 annual emergency room visits stemming from similar accidents, and one death every two weeks. The event is being held Sunday from 3pm—7:30pm at the Pine Tree Elementary School in Monroe. The cost is $35 per ticket, kids under twelve get in free.
