Samsondale Avenue Bridge Replacement Project to Begin Today

The legislature and the county executive have approved $2.3 million to replace the Samsondale Avenue Bridge over the CSX Railroad in the Village of West Haverstraw. The county executive says 80% of the cost is eligible for reimbursement by the Federal Highway Administration and 15% would be covered by the state, leaving minimal cost to Rockland County taxpayers. The bridge will close when the work starts, slated for today. I’ll temporarily re-open on December 1, 2018 and stay open through the winter. Work on the bridge will be completed by June 1, 2019.
