Wanaque Man Killed by Downed Wire Driving Through NJ Intersection

Despite safety cones posted on a New Jersey roadway warning motorists not to progress due to a downed wire, a driver reportedly tried to proceed through anyway, and paid the ultimate price. Published reports said Anthony Gonzalez of Wanaque was killed after he apparently got out of his car and tried to move the wire on Summit Avenue near the intersection of Route 208 in Franklin Lakes Thursday morning. O&R says you should never touch or approach any downed wire as it could always be energized and dangerous. Call local police and O&R immediately at 1-877-434-4100 to report downed wires.
